January 2016, Johannesburg – Holy throat! I remember thinking that when I heard the first notes. Eight female singers and a six-piece band, playing and singing all the Graceland-songs. What a treat! Leoni Jansen is busy putting together the show for a tour through the Netherlands. On our last day in Johannesburg we did a complete run-through for an audience of friends and family. They went wild and were completely moved. Now, a couple of months later, the exact same thing happens every single night the cast performs in the Netherlands. The audiences lose their minds, they dance, they applaud (on 1 and 3) and there’s tears. Time and again.
